Frequently asked questions

Hi friend! Did you face a problem when using Faces?
Worry not, we’ll help. But first, see if an answer is already found here!

NEW FACES APP

  • Faces by Helsinki Casting is now a mobile phone app for iOS and Android.
With the app, you can access casting opportunities, manage your profile, submit applications, and message directly with our casting directors.

  • To create a new user just download the new App, sign up and update your profile information.

Don't forget to enable app notifications for important messages and stay updated with the latest news from our casting directors.

  • Our old website has been discontinued, and we have transitioned to using only our mobile app.

If you used to have a profile in the old Faces website version, log into the new app by requesting a new password from the app's login page. Your email address must be the same one you had for the website version.

If you want to use another email address, you can start fresh and create a new user.

  • Did you check your spam folder in your email? If you still can't find the message, it's possible that your user data hasn't transferred for some reason. For example, a longer period of inactivity on the service could cause this. Don't worry, just create a new account and you'll be able to start using the application.

  • Some of the profile information was transferred, but we have made many changes on the profile fields and therefore some of the old info didn’t make it. Just update the new parts in your profile.

  • It’s the future, baby.

Acting related questions

  • As casting directors we always thrive to identify right actors for right roles. It can be frustrating to apply to many roles and get rejection each time. We get it.

Might be that there is a lot of competition and it’s possible that your actor profile doesn’t present you in the best possible way. Try to think how your profile is viewed by casting director.
If you have lot of references in your profile, you are more likely to be noticed.
It’s free to have a profile in Faces, so your not really loosing anything by registering.

  • Details + good photos + links = great profile!

Write a compelling personal statement or bio that captures your essence as an actor. Highlight your unique qualities, passions, and the type of roles you excel in. Keep it engaging and authentic while focusing on your strengths.

To stand out, fill out ALL fields with thought. Include your physical attributes, acting training, relevant skills and any industry affiliations.

List any specialized skills, such as foreign languages, accents, musical instruments, or sports, that may be relevant to acting roles.

Think how your profile is going to be viewed and try to make yourself presentable while staying truthfull.
Treat Faces as a professional networking tool.

If you have a personal website or professional social media accounts dedicated to your acting career, include links to them in your profile.

Keep your profile up to date. Update your credits, skills, headshot, and showreel as you gain more experience or if there are significant changes in your appearance or skillset.

Embrace your uniqueness, share your brilliance, and let your light shine for all to see! You've got this!

  • 1.Consider hiring a professional photographer experienced in headshot or casting photography.

    2. Opt for natural lighting whenever possible. Shoot outdoors or in a well-lit indoor location near a large window. Natural light tends to be more flattering and provides a more accurate representation of your appearance.

    3. Simple Background: Choose a clean and simple background that doesn't distract from your face. A solid-colored wall or a neutral backdrop often works well. Avoid busy patterns or cluttered environments that could draw attention away from you.

    4. The focus of casting photos should be your face, so make sure your head and shoulders fill most of the frame. Maintain good posture, and keep the composition balanced and centered.

    5. Include a mix of smiling, neutral, and slightly different moods to showcase your acting range. Avoid overly exaggerated or forced expressions. Faces app allows you to have two headshots and a full body shot. Headshots are from shoulders up and full body shot shows your body from head to toe with clothes on.

    6. Choose outfits that complement your skin tone and bring out your eyes. Avoid busy patterns and logos. Style can and should represent you though.

    7. Keep your makeup natural and minimal. Casting directors want to see your natural features, so avoid heavy makeup or dramatic looks. Focus on enhancing your best features while maintaining a clean and professional appearance.

    8. Eye Contact: Maintain strong and engaging eye contact with the camera. Your eyes should be the focal point of the photos and reflect your confidence and connection with the viewer.

Authenticity: Be yourself and let your personality shine through the photos. Casting directors are looking for actors who can bring authenticity and depth to their roles, so make sure your photos reflect your unique qualities.

  • You can!
We have photo sessions a couple of times a year. Dates will be announced in Faces app or in our social media.

A set of 4 casting photos costs 149€ and the photos can be used for your actors profile but also for other purposes. Highly recommended to get nice photos!
